For Menswear in Singapore, I always be sure to check out www.menswearsingapore.com for the best men fashion labels available. Formal Menswear Labels in Singapore Went shopping for some business clothes for my first job starting 3 weeks from now. I am so excited about this new phase of my life – I’m officially in the working society, I’m an adult now! Visited Vivo for brunch and to get my business wear in place for the new job. First stop, G2000 of course! Sadly, there was no sale going on though. Was hoping to really stock up since I heard they got the best valued for money office wear in Singapore. I bought 3 shirts, 2 pants and a pair of tie from G2000. Dropped by Topman and Zara as well but unfortunately their shirts are made using thin fabrics and some of them can be quite ‘sexy’ (if you know what I mean) and hence I didn’t buy any. Was tempted to try their leather belt though, but it feels like it’s made out of fake leather. I’ve seen guys in office wear with the back of their belt cracked and it’s a pretty ugly sight. So I’ve always maintained a mental note to avoid this blooper when I started wear office wear. Came across this awesome looking shop just opposite Tangs - Ted Baker. Oh I swear they have the best looking menswear in Singapore I’ve ever seen. The details in their items just made almost every items looked prestige and expensive. To be fair, not all designs looked nice or tastefully thought out, but their attention to details really left a positive impression. Unfortunately, their price tag is slightly too sleep for me at the moment, but I made a promise to really try their clothes a few months after I’ve started working. I honestly think this will bring my office wear game to the next level. I went to Bata, Aldo and Tangs to check out their dress shoes but eventually settled with Pedro’s dark brown leather Oxford. It’s not easy to find a sleek looking shoe that can fit my broad feet. I tried a light shade of brown but they look really big and I foresee will look weird when I eventually wear it with my pants. The shoe was on discount and I think it’s reasonable from the shops I’ve compared. Bata (better known as Buy-And-Throw-Away) on the other hand have surprisingly nice looking designs. And by nice looking, I mean they look really nice, expensive and modern. Totally threw off the notion of their brand’s reputation. I think it’s a pity because of how the brand name BATA have established this reputation of a buy and throw away brand. I used to buy Bata’s leather shoes when I do CNY shopping when I was younger and they spoil really bad! And I mean really bad. The sole will come off, the fake leather skin will tear and come off, the front sole will open into what we call a crocodile mouth, it was such horrible memory. And because of that, I decided not to go ahead with Bata – nope. I took a look at other brands like Massimo Duitti, Topman, Zara, H&M as well but decided not to buy from them despite the good price and decent looking designs. The primary reason is because I have my doubt on whether these brands that sells apparels as the bulk of their product mix will place much emphasis on their shoe’s quality and longevity. Also, at that price point, I doubt the leather used are real or durable. The sole also seemed like it’s glued instead of stitched. Hence my final decision to go for Pedro as the dress shoes is their core product and they have been around for a long time. More importantly is their very reasonable price point. I have yet to find a working bag I desire that doesn’t cost a bomb, but I will keep looking. I hope to get one that fits a 15 inch laptop and is made with real leather. Will probably stock up more working shirts as well as the company I’m working for requires business attire for all 5 working days. Will probably explore Benjamin Barker this weekend to see if there’s anything I like and don’t come with a big price tag. Wish me luck!
